Our Canada Getaway

We have a woodshed with the grape vine growing on it. The red building is the outhouse, yes thats right no in door toilet and no running water so we have a hand pump for water. Now that is Eli on the gator and in the barrels is day old bread that they feed to the cows. And that is the cows sharing there bread with the seagulls.

What a wonderful time Eli and I had

once again as we spent 2 weeks up

in Canada on the Trent River that comes out of Rice Lake. It is kinda our time to reconnect with each other. I'm sure you all know how easy it is in this way to busy lifestyle to kinda lose touch with each other and important it is make sure you don't lose it!!!!!! Anyway I wanted to share some photos with that I took while we were up there. One is the morning fog lifting off the water, the shoreline right out front of our cottage and the road that comes right down to the river, you can see the cottage in the top right hand corner of the photo. I took 1 from the boat towards the shore. This is same road you see in the other picture.

Now this next picture below is a very old landmark. It has a LOT of history. In the 14 years we've been coming up here the tree kept leaning more & more they finally put a post under it to keep it from falling or somebody getting hurt. Well now the tree is actually growing around the post. At the top of the trunk you can see how it is slowly rotting away but this makes an excellent place for me to put food for the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. I love to watch God's creatures. Back when we were younger we'd bring the kids up here for a week for our family vacation and oh the fun they had on this tree. Like I said it has a lot of history. This was by all means no fancy resort but the children always enjoyed it and so did we. Lots of very good memories were made.
We don't do a whole lot of fishing while we're up here oh we do some but if we'd depend on the fish we caught we'd starve. We spend a lot of time with the people who own the cottage, Ken and Mona Humphries.

Well I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I did taking them and sharing them with ya'll. Let me know what you think. If your interested in spending a week or so here I can hook you up!!!!

Back From Vacation Blues

Well it's been almost 2 weeks now since we're back from vacation and I'm almost back to a normal pace but that first week was rough. I'm talking about reprogramming your body and brain. Anyway we had a wonderful time. Lots of fun family time, fishing, sleeping late, and eating fish. We had very nice weather while we we're up there. In case you didn't read my other posts we went to Canada on a fishing trip. I'm gonna try to add some pictures from our trip,I'm still a little new at all this. Yesterday my oldest daughters children we're here to spend the afternoon. I sure enjoyed that, they don't come visit as often so I enjoy when they do. Today Sara and children will be here. I also need to get started on some sewing.

Summer Vacation

How is everyones summer going so far? I wonder if ya'll have as much going as we do? I always think it takes forever for spring to get here then all at once it's summer and we're in this mad rush to get everything done while the weather is nice and before we know it another summer is past and all to soon the snow flies again. Ok Ellen slow down a bit lets back up a tad, now about that summer vacation. Well I am getting prepared for ours. You see every year the last full week of June we go to Canada for a week. It has been our family vacation for I'd say 15 years or so and oh the memories we have made. But I can tell you the getting ready can be pretty hectic sometimes. My husband Eli claims up and down that I take everything but the kitchen sink and I'd take that if it weren't attached. I think he over exaggerates just a bit. But do you know who complains the most when I forget something? Yep you guessed it. He's a funny guy. This year our dau. Sara, her husband Sonny, and there 2 children Michael & Elizabeth and then our son David, his wife Jenn, & there 2 boys Bradley & Tyler are also going as well as Eli, Rachel and myself. Rachels boyfriend Michael wants to go so bad but his mommy says he has to go to Mrytle Beach on there family vacation. He is not to impressed. But I told him we'll be going to Canada again and maybe next time he can go. Well I'm gonna go now and now ya'll need to tell me about your family vacation.

Memorial Day

This is Memorial Day lots of families getting together for the day. I have to think of all the families who have a husband, son, wife, daughter or some family member that is overseas , missing in action, or has recently been killed in action. Lets keep them in ours prayers and also thank those who have given their lives for our freedom. I give thanks to God for all that I have, we have so much that we take for granted everyday sometimes I wonder what we truly would do if everything was taken from us.
Had a wonderful church service yesterday. Got a chance to share with the rest what a great time we had at the retreat. Praise GOD for sisters in CHRIST!!!!!

A Sister,
Ellen
